Barack and Michelle Obama is one of the most adorable couples of the world. Their love story has given relationship goals to many, for sure.

Not many, however, know that when the Obama’s met with each other in 1989 at a Chicago law firm, Barack was dating Sheila Miyoshi Jager.

Juicy details of Jager-Obama relationship emerged in a new biography on the former USA present, Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama, by David J. Garrow.

Sheila Miyoshi Jager is now an associate professor and director of the East Asian program at Oberlin College in Ohio, where she lives with her husband and children.

“He became … so very ambitious, very suddenly. I remember very clearly when this transformation happened, and I remember very specifically that by 1987, about a year into our relationship, he already had his sights on becoming president” Jager told Garrow.

They dated till 1990-91 and race were said to be the issue between the two.

They frequently discussed marriage, but the conversations were clouded by Obama’s “torment over this central issue of his life … race and identity,” Jager said.
